After the release of the fifth cut-off list for the University of Delhi on Saturday, a whopping number of students got admitted to their desired courses. The fifth cut-off saw a significant drop in the cut-off percentage, especially in the commerce stream for various colleges. Delhi University officials deem it one of the primary reasons for such high number of admissions under the fifth cut-off.
DU Admissions 2020 Statistical Data
One of the spokesperson from the varsity confirmed that a total of 24,261 candidates have taken admission under the fifth cut-off list. So far 67,781 students have been offered seats in the prestigious university out of the 70,000 seats which are offered. Hence, almost all the seats have been filled, and there is little hope that a new cut-off list will be released.
Before the start of the admission season, the total number of seats on offer for various undergraduate level courses was increased from 66,263 to 69,554 seats. The reason for the increase in the number of DU UG seats is the addition of 3,291 supernumerary seats.
Over Five Lakh Registrations Received
Once Delhi University rolled out the registration process, it received over five lakh registrations, out of which 5.63 lakh registrations were for admission into undergraduate courses. In contrast, around 1.83 lakh students had registered for postgraduate studies and over 34,000 for M.Phil and PhD courses.
Students who had applied under Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) Quota and Sports Quota are now gearing up for the trials. Delhi University has released the schedule for the ECA and Sports trials on its official website. The varsity had decided not to hold ECA and Sports trials because of the pandemic crisis. But after a number of petitions filed by eminent artists like Sonal Mansingh and others, it was deliberated that the varsity would continue with the trials.

Candidates are requested to keep an eye on the official website and keep checking the list of the results which have been declared.
