The number of aspiring candidates waiting to get a seat in Delhi University has always been huge. On the 31 of August, DU Admissions 2020 finally closed. Compared to last year, DU Admissions 2020 has seen a hike in the number of candidates registered. There was a substantial rise of about 37% in the registrations in the Undergraduate and 12% in the Post-graduate courses. Meanwhile, a very marginal rise in the Doctoral courses. If we include the number of students who registered but did not pay the fees, the percentage goes even higher up to almost 53.
2019 vs 2020: Undergraduate Registrations (37% Increase)
As per the official data of Delhi University, 353917 candidates registered and paid the application fee. This number stood at 258388 last year. The difference is nearly 95,529 for UG admissions. This roughly adds up to a 37 percent rise in the number. Meanwhile, unpaid registrations stand at 563669 in 2020, which is approximately 53 percent more than the previous year. 2019 vs 2020: Post-graduate Registrations (12% increase)
Post-graduate registrations for Delhi University, too, went up this year. In 2020, 146996 students registered for the PG courses. The number was 131129 in 2019. The difference is 15867 in number and 12 in percentage. There was not much difference between paid and unpaid registrations for DU PG Admission this year. 2019 vs 2020: Ph.D./ M.Phil Registrations
Admission into Doctoral courses did not see a rise. In fact, there was a difference of 242, who registered more in 2019 than in 2020. As per official reports, 34,306 applications were received in the year 2020. While in 2019, the number stood at 34,548.
