Delhi University has postponed its final year examinations for UG and PG courses due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the country. Earlier, the exams were scheduled to be held from 15 May 2021. However, they will now be conducted online from 1 June 2021 in open-book format.
D S Rawat, Dean of Examinations, Delhi University, said that they held a meeting on Saturday with all the heads of departments and deans. The vice-chancellor chaired the meeting, and it was decided that the exams will be postponed to 1 June 2021.
D S Rawat further added that the examination branch officials have been fighting against the COVID-19, and on Sunday, two employees succumbed to COVID-19. He made it clear that the exams could be deferred beyond 1 June 2021.
Regarding the further delay of the exam, he said, “Many students have got job offers and to accept them, they need to have their final results. Students have also applied to foreign universities and require results within a time frame.”
Final year exams were to be held from 15 May 2021, and teachers were given time till 10 May 2021 to submit question papers. However, due to the heavy demand from teachers and students for the postponement of exams, the university has made the decision.
