In a recent hearing by the Delhi High Court, of the pleas filed by the Delhi University final year students, the court has directed the varsity to release course-wise details of the DU OBE results which have already been declared.
The Open Book Examination or OBE mode was adopted by Delhi University to conduct the semester-end examination of the terminal year undergraduate as well as postgraduate students. The exam was conducted way back in August 2020, but still, the varsity hasn’t declared the results of various courses.
Delhi University Student’s Pleas
Many students of Delhi University have moved to the high court and filed petitions and pleas regarding the matter. Their major concern was that due to the non-declaration of the final year result by Delhi University, they were unable to pursue their higher education from other universities as well as foreign universities. This poses a serious threat to the future of the students in India.
Furthermore, many students complained of the fact that despite appearing for the DU OBE and receiving confirmation mails after successful submission of the answer scripts, they have been marked absent for the exam. Many students have also been awarded zero marks for a few subjects. Although Delhi University has taken note of the concern, it has been inept with resolving the issue.
Delhi High Court’s Directive
After hearing the pleas of students, the bench has directed the Delhi University to file an affidavit within five days (starting from today) mentioning the methodology and pattern of the result declaration of OBE. Additionally, the varsity must specify the estimated date by which it will declare the result of the remaining courses. The High Court has also ordered the University that it is a matter of non-compliance stating that DU had been ordered to file an affidavit by the HC earlier but it was not seen through.
The High Court had earlier directed the Varsity to declare the OBE result latest by 31 October 2020 and also upload the mark sheet of the candidates on the official website. The HC had also affixed deadlines for declaration of results of various undergraduate courses between 20th to 31st October 2020 providing a buffer of three days from the date fixed. The next hearing has been scheduled for 26 November 2020, where Mr. D.S Rawat, Dean of Examination University of Delhi, has also been asked to join in via video conferencing.
