Chhattisgarh Government Decides To Promote Students Of Classes 1 to 9 and 11 Without Exams

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak in India, Chhattisgarh government has closed all the academic institutions, universities, colleges. As a precautionary measure against the rapidly spreading COVID-19, the government has also decided to suspend the ongoing CGBSE exams. The state government has decided to promote all students of class 1 to class 9 and class 11 students to the next grade without any exam. It was announced by the Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel. The decision has been taken bearing in mind the on-going public health emergency surrounding COVID-19 pandemic.

Decision through official circular

The official circular from the state government mentioned that due to the closure of schools for a long time, the exams for classes 1 to 9 and class 11 could not be conducted as planned. Also there is no hope of conducting the exams in the near future. Considering the current situation, the state government has decided to grant general promotion to students from class 1 to 9 and also class 11. The promotion of the students to the next class will take place on the basis of their performance throughout the year.

It is noteworthy that to control the infection of Novel Corona virus in the state, the examinations of High School and Higher Secondary School was postponed by the state government, with the closure of schools from March 19. After this, the entire Chhattisgarh was under lock down from March 20, with orders from the Prime Minister. 

Earlier, it was decided to conduct examinations after the lockdown period. However, with the lockdown period being extended, conducting annual examinations in the state is not possible. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the government of Chhattisgarh decided to promote the students of classes 1 to 9 and 11.

Postponement of CGBSE exams

CGBSE 10th and 12th Board Exam 2020 were also postponed by the state government owing to the lockdown announced to bring the spread of COVID-19 under control. Since then, students have been eagerly waiting for information on the revised exam dates or schedule for the same. However, so far no update on CG Board Exam 2020 has been provided by the board. According to a senior board official, the revised dates will be released after the lockdown for CG board exams.

The teachers have also been instructed to conduct evaluation process from home.
