The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded the prestigious A+ grade to Chandigarh University for maintaining top standards in delivering and disseminating of quality education.
The University scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.28 on 4-point scale The ranking has placed the Chandigarh University amongst India’s most elite and prestigious Higher Educational Institutions (HEI). The university also happens to be the youngest varsity to have achieved the felicitation. Established in the year 2012, Chandigarh University has become the only private university in India to bag the A+ grade in the first cycle of the accreditation process. It is now also the only state private university of Punjab to be accredited by NAAC.
Talking about the achievement and honor bestowed by NAAC, the Chancellor of the Chandigarh University, Satnam Singh Sandhu stated that CU was the first university in the state to be evaluated by NAAC as per the revised scheme, which has made the entire process of accreditation even more stringent and challenging. He further added that the university had adopted a flexible choice-based academic model that gave freedom to their students to undergo learning in multiple disciplines along with transparent and continuous evaluation process that helps in the holistic development of its students.
The university in its long list of achievements, filed for around 400 patents and established 85 start-ups within a time span of three years. It pioneered in designing new-age programs in emerging fields and also customized the traditional programs as per the changing requirements of the industry which resulted in greater acceptability of its talent in the corporate world, he added. More than 627 multi-nationals gave a record 6314 offers during 2018-19 academic year alone.
In addition, CU is also excelling in the field of sports with 10 championships and 86 international and national medals in its bag. The Chandigarh University has prioritized various aspects such as student services, research, academic model, achievements of students and faculty in sports and cultural activities, industry acceptance which have led to the achievement of A+ Grade in the prestigious NAAC Accreditation
Chandigarh University, over the years, has collaborated with many international bodies such as the International Association of Universities [IAU], Indo US Collaboration for Engineering Education [IUCEE], American Chemical Society [ACS], International Business Machines Corporations [IBM], Association of Commonwealth Universities [ACU], The American Society of Mechanical Engineers [ASME], Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers [IEEE] to name a few.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an autonomous body of UGC which evaluates Higher Educational Institutions in terms of their performance related to the educational process and outcomes, curriculum, teaching-learning process, research undertaken, governance, new initiatives and student services.
