CBSE Bi-Annual Exams Part of NCF And NEP 2020: Offers Students A Chance to Improve Their Grades

CBSE Bi-Annual Exams: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) introduced bi-annual board exams earlier this week. As per the bi-annual exam scheme, classes 10 and 12 students can take the board exams twice. 

Henceforth, CBSE has decided to implement the CBSE Bi-Annual Exams for the academic year 2024-25. This new scheme is a part of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023. Hence, it is also a part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. 

As per the experts, the bi-annual examinations are a boon for the students of class 10, and it will be an added burden for class 12 students as they might not get enough time to prepare due to a shortage of time. However, the new bi-annual examination scheme will help students improve their marks and study more topics. Students will have an option to perform better in the subsequent exam and feel less worried.

Silpi Sahoo, chairperson of SAI International Education Group, stated, "The introduction of bi-annual board exams by CBSE can help students in many ways. For example, it allows students to explore subjects, multiple academic choices, a second chance to score higher marks, and improved decision making."  

As the CBSE Bi-Annual Exams Part of NCF and NEP 2020, the new scheme follows the NCF and NEP 2020 objectives. Accordingly, the new scheme aims to reduce students' stress and the risk of missing a singular opportunity. The CBSE Bi-Annual Exam scheme provides various opportunities for students. If students are satisfied with their performance and marks scored, they can choose not to attend the subsequent examination. 

Likewise, education experts have shared mixed opinions on the new Bi-Annual Examination schemes. Per their reviews, the new scheme will be an added burden for teachers and school management. The CBSE Bi-Annual Exams will increase the workload of teachers and schools. 

Furthermore, experts also fear that the new scheme might affect the quality of teaching as teachers will have to prepare students for two examinations in a limited time. Implementing the CBSE Bi-Annual Exams scheme would require technical and training support from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Each school should be ready to accept the new scheme's challenges and prepare accordingly. CBSE must set a proper framework and guide schools thoroughly to implement the new CBSE bi-annual exams scheme.
