British Council And CBSE Collaborate to Develop Innovative Teaching Methods for Indian Schools
Innovative Teaching Methods for Indian Schools will be developed by the British Council and CBSE.
Innovative Teaching Methods for Indian Schools: The British Council and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have organised a two-day education conference to develop innovative teaching methods all over India. Sanjay Kumar, the Secretary of School Education, inaugurated the conference event.
The school education conference included representatives and policymakers from almost 300 educational institutions. Some of the participants of the event were the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), the National Curriculum Framework Committee (NCF), and different school boards from across India.
The conference regarding developing innovative teaching methods in Indian schools also attracted various UK-based education experts and organisations like Alpha Plus, ECCTIS, and Cambridge Partnership for Education.
The main point of conducting the conference was to share innovative teaching methodologies for school education in India. In this conference the emphasis on teaching science, maths, social science, and languages in CBSE schools has been emphasised along with high quality activities and fieldwork for the students to get an enhanced learning experience.
Along with the subjects, the study of climate change and sustainability education was also pushed, especially by Sanjay Kumar, as he believed studying the environmental climate would promote green skills and a sustainability mindset in the Indian youth. The candidates can create a 'profound bond with nature' by learning about climate issues and make sustainable solutions. Sanjay Kumar particularly believes that candidates must be engaged in climate and environmental studies as the rapid climate change is increasingly impacting the world.
Along with the emphasis on climate studies, several discussions were conducted at the conference regarding implementing policies, curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment priorities for 21st-century schools.
Different conference experts have proposed integrating computational thinking and digital technology in classrooms and schools along with the National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework 2023.
