AIIMS PhD Admissions 2020: Registrations forms released from today (27th Nov)


AIIMS has opened portal for registration for PhD Admissions 2020, registrations can be done on AIIMS official website till 16th December, 2019

AIIMS released official notification regarding the admissions to PhD programmes for 2020. The official notification was released on AIIMS official website. As per the notification, the entrance exam for 2020 Ph.D programme will be conducted on 4th of January 2020.

Registration for the exam can be done on AIIMS official website until 17:00 hrs on December 16th, 2020 starting from today. AIIMS 2020 PhD programmes’ Entrance examination will have exam centres only in Delhi/NCR. Entrance exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Mode.

AIIMS provides PhD programmes in all 30 departments of the institute.

About AIIMS PhD Programme – Entrance Examination

The selection of candidates for PhD programme is a three-step process:

Stage 1: First stage exam consists of aptitude related questions in topics English (Written and Verbal skills), Biostatistics, Research Methodology, Cell Biology, Lab Technology etc. There will 30 Multiple Choice Questions with one mark each given for every correctly asnwer.

Stage 2: Second stage is also an exam based on subject related theories. There will be 40 questions with one mark for each question. Questions will be in entrance level of MD/MS/M.Sc.

The candidate will have to score atleast 35 marks in both stages combined (out of 70) to be eligible for stage-III and eligible candidates should have a Medical Degree (MBBS/ BDS/ MDS/ DNB/ MD/
MS/ DM/ M.Ch.) or M.Sc. (Nursing) or equivalent to qualify for stage-III.

Stage 3: This stage consists of departmental clinical/practical/lab based assessment (carrying 20 marks).
The marks scored in this stage will be added to the marks of stages I + II + special weightage, this will be the final merit. 

Evaluation Process

Every correct answer you give will be awarded with one mark and for every wrong answer, 1/3rd marks will  be deducted. No mark is given for attended or reviewed questions.


I) The combined result of stage-I & stage-II will be available on AIIMS official website. AIIMS will not contact any candidate directly.
II) Candidates who fail to attend any of the stages of examinations as mentioned above will not be eligible for admission.
III) Admission to Ph.D Course will subject to the availability of research funds/fellowship/grant from recognized funding agencies.
