100% of the 157 students in IIM Sambalpur’s flagship MBA programme have successfully been placed, as released in a university statement on 26 May 2021. The 6th batch of students is the university’s class of 2022 and have accepted both summer internships as well as full-time employment.
This programme featured an exponential growth in the sheer volume of recruiters. Some of the most well-known preliminary recruiters were Google, Justdial, ICICI Bank, DSM Group, Tata Steel, IBM Group, etc. Around 140 companies participated in the process, with more than 110 of those providing internship offers. This is a ninety percent increase for the school from previous years. The diversity of sectors has also expanded, with several niche companies reaching out. These include sectors such as pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, and the automobile industries.
The most popular markets with high levels of student competition were BFSI, consulting, FMCG, IT/ ITES, sales, and e-learning. A little over 35 percent of all the offers made by companies were in the sales and marketing domain.
The top CTC offered for final full-time placements was INR 26.4 lakh annually, with the highest 25 percent of CTC offers sitting over INR 14.91 lakh. The highest stipend for summer internships was INR 1.70 lakh, with the average stipend offered at INR 72,511. This has been noted as a surprising development due to many businesses currently not accepting internships since the onset of the COVID-19 economic slowdown.
IIM Sambalpur’s Response
Mahadeo Jaiswal, director of IIM Sambalpur, commented on the programme in an interview. “IIM Sambalpur has yet again bettered its previous records and will continuously strive to exceed expectations of all its stakeholders.
